- What does the endotoxin test on SS-31 measure?
- Endotoxins are fragments of bacterial cell wall. They are not removed by sterilisation and they provoke a response in cell culture and in-vivo work at very low concentrations, which is why they are measured separately from sterility. The figure matters more for a diluent than for anything else in a research fridge: whatever it carries is added to every vial it reconstitutes, so its endotoxin load is inherited by every experiment downstream of it.
